Day 1: Marrakech
Arrival at the Menara airport. Transfer to the hotel or Riad.
Day 2: Marrakech – Aguelmame Ouiouane (1650m) (366km)
Departure after breakfast by 4WD or minibus via Beni Mellal, Khénifra to the Ouiouane Lake in the Middle Atlas. Overnight stay in a local gîte.
Day 3: Aguelmame Ouiouane – Zaouit Ifran Falls (4hours walk)
We will cross the forests to descend to the waterfall Zaouit Ifran for a picnic. Zaouia d'Ifrane is a Berber village, known for its cedar and oak forests, waterfalls, beautiful plateaus and cliffs. Return late afternoon by car, overnight stay in the gîte.
Day 4: Aguelmame Ouiouane – Sources Oum er Rbia (4hours walk)
We will continue our trek through the cedar forest on a mule track. This forest sheltered the lions of the Atlas, as well as tigers, which disappeared around the 70’s. We will follow a valley that leads us to the gorges from which spring the 40 sources of Oum er Rbia, a magical place where caves have been set up along the sources. Picnic and return late afternoon by car. Overnight stay in the gîte.
Day 5: Aguelmame Ouiouane - Aguelmame Tiguelmamine (1650m) – Aguelmame Azigza (1487m) (4hours walk)
We are still in the Zayan Country, a famous tribe in the history of Morocco, very proud and very welcoming population. We'll follow a path that crosses centennial cedar forests. These forests are home to a few dozen pairs of monkeys, which we'll approach easily. Notice the many sheepfolds near the pastures, enjoy the superb view on the mountain and the cedar forest near the Ighoud-sources. Picnic and return late afternoon by car.
Day 6: Aguelmame Ouiouane – Fez (127km)
Departure after breakfast via Azrou and Ifrane to Fez. Day off to explore the city: medina, tanneries, souks, medersa, …. Overnight stay in a hotel or riad.
Day 7: Fez – Marrakech (515km)
When return flight from Fez, the journey ends in Fez. If you return from Marrakech, we will leave after breakfast for a long drive to Marrakech. Overnight stay in a hotel or riad.
Day 8: Marrakech – return flight
Got to catch that airplane!
